Updated 22/10/2024

In our latest update, we’re covering exciting news from the world of Carter Jonas.

We recently celebrated a major milestone - 100 years of our presence in Oxford. To mark this occasion, we hosted a special evening at the Ashmolean Museum, bringing together over 150 clients, colleagues, and partners.

Carter Jonas first established its presence in Oxford in 1924. While our business has evolved significantly since then, our teams are still inspired by this remarkable city. Oxford, known for its rich history and architectural heritage, continues to strive for excellence as a centre of innovation. With a team of over 100 people, our office in Oxford supports both major developments and local initiatives.

In addition to our celebrations in Oxford, we have taken significant steps to enhance our national capital markets and industrial and logistics transactional capabilities. We appointed Mathew Atkinson and Richard Harris as Partners in Leeds, strengthening our expertise and presence in core regional property markets. Furthermore, we welcomed Anthony White to a newly created role as Director of Marketing, Communications, and Business Development, as part of our strategic growth plan, Vision 2030.

We also announced several new client mandates, including our appointment by The University of Warwick Science Park as its sole property adviser on its innovation campus across four strategic locations in the West Midlands. Pioneer Group, the life science real estate firm, appointed Carter Jonas as leasing agent on its Hexagon Tower facility in Manchester. Additionally, our Infrastructure team has been awarded a four-year mandate to work on a range of schemes to assist in securing consents on the electricity distribution network for UK Power Networks.

Interview with Joshua Mark - Building Surveying Apprentice

I studied BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in construction and the Built Environment and it relates to my role because it gave me a basic overview of everything to do with construction from foundations of roofs to plumbing. So now that I am becoming a building surveyor, which is a where you need to know a bit of everything, my college background has really helped with that.

When doing work experience the employees and the variety of work attracted me. The welcoming attitude and the mix between working in office and going out really made working at Carter Jonas appealing.

Inspiring, informative, collaborative

The approachability of everyone and how they take their job serious but not too serious.

When two floors meet there needs to be a transition piece typically made of metal.

Work experience in the industry is one of your best friends, even if it’s not paid, still do it as the experience you will receive will help you in whatever role you go into in property. Even simple things as office or industry etiquette.

My favourite task that I've completed while working at Carter Jonas was when I had to dictate the defects in an office. The reason I enjoyed it so much was because I was able to see exactly what was wrong with the building and piece together my knowledge and use the knowledge I had gained while working at Carter Jonas and going to university. Also, knowing I was helping a company do their due diligence was really satisfying.
