Carter Jonas has bolstered its Infrastructure and Energy team in Birmingham with the appointment of five new members including Jane Barlow and Lisa Smith as associate partners. Jamie Simpson also joins as an associate, whilst Edward Beale and Katryna Ley join as senior surveyor and surveyor respectively. All will be based out of the firm’s office at 2 Snowhill.

Barlow has more than 20 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector gained whilst working for United Utilities, GVA Grimley and Dalcour Maclaren. Barlow has managed a number of multi discipline teams to deliver land assembly, acquisition, compensation and asset management contracts and projects. She joins Carter Jonas to assist with the progressive growth of the Infrastructure team.

Previously at Severn Trent, Smith has developed a broad range of experience over the course of her career working with both public and private sector clients. Her extensive experience includes undertaking RICS Red Book valuations, lease renewal and rent review negotiations, business rates defence and advising on the management of corporate estate portfolios.

Simpson joins from Aitchison Raffety. Working in valuations, he has extensive knowledge of the Midlands, North West and Yorkshire markets including experience of commercial, residential and development property predominantly for loan security and fund purposes. Simpson has provided loan security valuations for all major lenders including Lloyds Banking Group, Santander, Handelsbanken and Barclays.
Beale has experience in both rural and urban property markets. Previously at Sheldon Bosley Knight, he has advised on compulsory purchase and compensation, landlord and tenant, valuation, and asset management. Ley, joins from Lambert Smith Hampton and has advised on asset disposal in the commercial sector as well as undertaking Red Book valuation and development appraisals.
