Carter Jonas Retail, Leisure and Hotel team has been acquiring locations for Travelodge Hotels Limited, the UK’s largest independent hotel brand, for over 16 years. Recently we have placed 1,013 rooms into solicitor’s hands to date. We have also exchanged eight contracts on new hotels across the Eastern region.

In total Carter Jonas currently has 29 active target sites within the eastern region with 2,118 Travelodge rooms.

Our retail, leisure and hotels team has also worked on two new hotel openings. The first in Kings Lynn, a 68 room hotel situated in Hardwick Business Retail Park which marked the opening of the company’s 544th hotel and the 8th hotel for Travelodge in Norfolk. The second opening is in Thetford, which forms part of a mixed use scheme developed by a council co-development partnership. For this initiative Breckland council have funded the construction of the hotel on council land and Travelodge have undertaken a 25 year rental agreement to operate the hotel.

Will Mooney, Head of Commercial for the Eastern region leads the team working on Travelodge. Will said: “The two recently opened Travelodge hotels demonstrate the variety of development styles that they can operate from. One is a standalone hotel next to a family pub and the other is in a mixed use leisure scheme. Travelodge will also consider refurbishment opportunities. We are pleased to deliver over 1300 rooms for Travelodge to date in 15 hotels throughout East Anglia, Essex and North Kent and we have instructions to acquire a further 2000+ rooms of which over 1000 rooms are currently in solicitor’s hands.”

Travelodge has announced that they will be opening 15 new hotels in the UK during 2017 and creating 325 jobs as part of their ongoing expansion programme. The new premises will join Travelodge’s growing network of hotels in locations across the UK, Spain and Ireland.
