Running a school that is proud to be part of the local community and also has international appeal is the aim of Mark Appleton, principal of BEST in Bath (Bath English Study Tours).
BEST in Bath has opened its doors to students at 1 Chapel Row, Queen Square in offices let by commercial property agents Carter Jonas.
The year-round English language school for adults was formed last year by Mr Appleton after the previous school he set up was sold to a US multinational.
“We have been peripatetic for the past 12 months so establishing an address and identity of our own in the city centre was important,” said Mr Appleton who has worked in Bath for 15 years and in the profession for 27 years.
At present the school has 15 staff, all of whom live in Bath, and welcomes adult students of any age – professionals of all types, retired people on holiday courses as well as a summer school for teenagers, plus language and cultural courses for visiting schools in the academic year.
Most students are accommodated by local families so they can experience life in an English home while also practising their English. Course lengths vary and a range of social excursions are also offered.
For more information email enquiries@bestinbath.co.uk or call Mark Appleton on 07769 336522.
Other offices in Bath available to let through Carter Jonas include premises at St James Parade, Walcot Street and Monmouth Place.
