10 December 2012, The retention of a strong Yorkshire link with the world wide success of Jaguar Land Rover has been assured following the granting of retrospective planning permission for extended warehouse and depot facilities at the former House of James’ Transport’s Dunnington site.

The family run firm was acquired by Potter Group Logistics in May 2012 with the contract to distribute component parts for the Range Rover Evoque manufactured at McKechnie Plastics Ltd in Pickering continuing.

Key to the operation of the business, which has previously included Nestle as a client, has been a substantial 12,000 sqft extension of the existing 37,000sqft warehouse facility and enlarged external yard area upon the Stamford Bridge Road site. 

Acting on behalf of House of James Transport Ltd, planning partner at Carter Jonas David Boulton successfully resolved the grant of planning permission and agreement with officers of York City Council when House of James Transport were served with two enforcement notices. An amicable solution was found to enable the business to operate and to expand its operation within this sensitive Green Belt location.

Jaguar Land Rover provided £2 billion worth of supply contracts to 40 companies across the UK in 2011 as part of the company’s success story. The contract with House of James Transport Ltd secured 15 jobs at the Dunnington site as part of the supply chain between Pickering and manufacturing plants in Liverpool and Birmingham.
