London, 22 May 2014, Built in an imposing French chateau style in the 1850s by British architect Henry Clutton, Minley Manor is one of Surrey’s most remarkable properties. The Manor is set in substantial grounds; the whole of which is Historic Park and Garden and comprises the Grade II* Manor and Grade II listed ancillary buildings; including an orangery, stable block and more recent 19th and 20th century additions. One of the principal features of the park is a 600 metre Wellingtonia tree avenue which sits to the north of the Manor house.

Sold to the War Department in 1934 and taken over by the Royal Engineers in 1971, Minley Manor has been adapted for its current use as Officer’s Mess. In addition, the Manor has hosted many military weddings and been used as a location for a number of films, notably the 2007 fantasy movie Stardust, with Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer.
As part of the Government requirement for estate rationalisation, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is bringing the property to market and a planning statement has been prepared which outlines potential suitable uses for the site subject to planning.
