17 September 2015, A working farm situated to the north of Faringdon in Oxfordshire with wonderful frontage onto the River Thames and on the market for the first time since 1923, has come to the market through Carter Jonas with a guide price of £4,350,000.
Formerly two separate farms, Camden Farm comprises two detached farmhouses, an annexe, four cottages and a large range of modern and traditional farm buildings with development opportunity, subject to necessary planning permissions, and extends in all to approximately 330.82 acres (133.88 hectares).
Camden Farm sits just to the north of the traditional market town of Faringdon within the Vale of White Horse. The farm was previously known as Camden Farm and Churchill Farm and was purchased by the current owner’s grandfather. The farms have since been amalgamated into what is now known as Camden Farm. The farm buildings are located at the centre point of what is now a large ring-fenced unit with the two farmhouses of more recent construction located at each end of the buildings.
The land is all laid to pasture as the farm now carries 500 breeding Lleyn ewes and their lambs, although in recent times the land was largely in arable rotation.
The area has excellent communication with a full range of transport links. The A420, M4 and M40 are all within easy reach, M4 junction 15 is about 16 miles away, and Oxford and Swindon stations with regular rail connections to London Paddington.
Edmund Smith, associate partner in Carter Jonas’ Oxford office’s leading rural team said: “Rarely do such farms as Camden Farm be available to purchase and with strong development opportunities. The farm has fantastic views in all directions in what is genuinely a rural yet accessible location. The farm enjoys 1.86 km of frontage onto the River Thames, with the associated fishing rights. We anticipate that it will appeal to farmers, developers and investors.”
The farm is offered freehold with vacant possession subject to the existing residential tenancies. Camden Farm is for sale by private treaty as a whole. The guide price is £4,350,000.
